NetVane, published by GRCSAC, is a network discovery and exposure-mapping tool that runs entirely on the user's own machine, with no cloud service, no account, and no agent required. It identifies the devices present on a network—including phones, laptops, cameras, and smart-home gadgets—and presents them as a live topology map showing what each device is, how it connects, and what it is exposing, accompanied by plain-language remediation suggestions. Discovered service versions are matched against NVD and CISA-KEV vulnerability data bundled with the application, so exposure checks function without an internet connection. The software opens a local dashboard at 127.0.0.1:8787 and stores all results in a local database, making it suitable for privacy-conscious home users auditing their own networks as well as teams needing compliance-oriented visibility. It falls within the network security and vulnerability assessment category. The current version is 1.4.0, and two versions have been released to date. Licensing is tiered: the free edition is perpetual rather than a trial, and includes discovery, the topology map, device identification, port fingerprinting, CVE and KEV matching, report export, and local backups, with vulnerability and fingerprint data updates remaining free.
